Strawberry compote with balsamique vinegar

Serving size: 1/2 cup (125 ml)
Ingredients
- 4 cups (1000 ml) strawberries cut into quarters
- ½ cup (125 ml) sugar
- ¼ cup (60 ml) balsamic vinegar
- 3 Tbsp (45 ml) water
- 10 peppercorns
- 12 basil leaves, chopped
Preparation
- In a saucepan, place the strawberries with sugar. Cook over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the vinegar, water and whole peppercorns. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove peppercorns.
- Serve on a white cake and garnish with basil.
